Repairing FT-2000 Blown Pre-Amp
I was surfing the Internet for videos on the FT-2000 and came across a GREAT series by Mike K6EEP on repairing blown pre-amp transistors. I watched it just because I was curious but this is one of the best tutorial videos I have seen.
You can't be afraid of TINY parts (note the grain of rice) and melting solder for this fix!

That would be nice if there were more how-to videos like this on the Internet, for all radios and all problems. Those of us that are electronically inclined (and I have two IPC certifications and one PACE Worldwide certification for hand soldering myself) can save a TON of money and repair time by doing things ourselves. As with any radio these days they must go to a manufacturer authorized service center for repairs as no fix requiring component replacement can be done at the dealer level.
Speaking of which.. I still need to replace the RF choke on my TS-2000's keyer circuit.
