6.4L Ford PSD and HF?

I am curious if any of you out there have the 6.4L Ford Powerstroke Diesel engine in any of your vehicles? Specifically 4wd (electronic T-case, not the floor shifter) SRW F250's and F350's. I have several questions about HF operating from them and some specific questions about the 250's and 350's. E-mail any responses to me at Steve (a.t.) kc8qvo (d.o.t.) com, or post a comment below. Or, if you know anyone that has one of these trucks (and possibly runs HF out of it) e-mail this to them.

If you have any vehicle with the 6.4L engine regardless of what it is, and run HF from it, what was your experience like? Was there a lot of noise? Did you fix it? What did you do to fix it? Did you ground anything? What kind of antenna are you using and where is it mounted? How is your power to the rig run? What rig are you using and what bands/modes?

Have you had any problems with the EGR, regen cycles, etc? Any shorted sensors? Any other big pains? How many miles are on the vehicle and how hard is it used?

With regards to the F250 and F350 SRW trucks - what gear ratio(s) does the truck have? What front spring capacity does the truck have? How is the ride quality? What is the fuel mileage? What tires? Any mods - tune, intake, DPF-delete?

With regards to F350 DRW trucks - same as above. I believe the only gears availble are 3.73's and 4.10's, but maybe the 4.30's too? I'm not sure. In any event, I am mostly intnerested in the gears and subsequent fuel mileage. Any mods - tune, intake, DPF-delete?

The 3:73 is a good gear. If you look at the tourqe curve of the engine it is much different than the gas engine. In my 7.3 the engine reached max tourqe between 55 and 73 mph with the 3:73, perfect. Look at the tourqe curve and drive the truck noting the speeds at the given rpm. I think you will find that the 3:73 is perfect. The 4:10 is offered for folks that just cannot get past the idea and have always had gas engines. These diesel engines are tourqe monsters at low rpm as are most diesel engines. If the curve falls into the highway speeds you will be driving, you will get better milage and have more reliable pulling with the shorter gear (3:73). There were some issues with the early trucks (10 years ago) with HF and the onboard computer. I think they were resolved. I also sold them and had many F350 customers pulling 13k plus pounds on the 3:73, no issues. On the gas side, mom has an F350 with the V10 and 3:73 gears. It too has good low end tourqe and gets 14-16 mpg but still no problem pulling 10,000+ pounds. Hope this helps.
